Fronted by the daughter of North America's first female alligator wrestler and backed by two wicked dudes, Land of Talk is music written by people with big hearts and strange thoughts. To celebrate this truly unique group X3 partners CBC Radio 3, Exclaim! and AUX TV have named Land of Talk our X3 Artist of the month.

Land of Talk Line Up Canada-Heavy North American Tour

By Alex Hudson for Exclaim!

Now that Liz Powell isn’t a full-time member of Broken Social Scene, the songwriter has more time to devote to her band, Land of Talk. Back in May, the Montreal indie rockers revealed that their second full-length, Cloak and Cipher, would be coming out on August 24 via Saddle Creek. Once it’s released, Powell and her bandmates will be hitting the road for an extensive North American tour.

The outing will last for most of the fall, making it Land of Talk’s biggest headlining tour yet. It will kick off in Toronto on September 16, with later Canadian dates in Alberta and British Columbia. For the western U.S. leg of the tour, they’ll be joined by fellow Montreal indie rockers the Besnard Lakes.

If you head over to Land of Talk’s official store, you can pick up tickets in a bundle, along with a copy of Cloak and Cipher.

According to Saddle Creek’s website, the new album is “vast yet intricate: expansive arrangements anchored by taut instrumentation. The lyrics are borrowed newspaper headlines, veiled confessions, and passages from books, annihilated and morphed into song.”
